WoW Forever vs Classic Talents
Compare documented talent renames, baseline abilities and build migration in the November 3 Forever dataset.
Use this reference when a familiar Classic name does not match the WoW Forever calculator. The comparison is based on the historical annotations in our attributed export and the November 3 talent revision, not a live Classic or TBC simulator.

A familiar structure, different choices
Forever keeps recognizable class trees and row commitments, but a current build must satisfy its own rank caps, positions and prerequisites. This planner caps class talents at 51. Do not infer another expansion’s budget or spell scaling from the shape of the tree.
Renamed, removed and baseline are different cases
A recorded rename gives a useful historical connection, not proof that the effects are equal. A removed talent has no selectable node in the current snapshot. The official Deep Dive also describes class buffs such as Divine Spirit and Blessing of Kings moving into the baseline toolkit; absence from a tree therefore does not always mean an ability was removed from the class.
Warrior’s November revision includes Lingering Rage, Furious Precision, Reckless Swings, Gore Drinker and Improved Whirlwind. The September archive includes names that are now absent, such as Improved Cleave, Boundless Rage, Precision and Toughness. We do not pair these arbitrarily as equivalent replacements.
How to inspect your old build safely
- Keep the original versioned link as your reference.
- Open build migration and review the reported changes.
- Check refunded points, changed caps and new prerequisites.
- Choose replacement talents yourself, then save a new link.
Compare two current builds when both already use the same revision. That tool answers an allocation question; this page answers the historical-name question.
